MUJER CON CICATRICES/WOMAN WITH SCARS

The first day on January of this year, I did a post showing some sketches. I said something about that, sometimes, from some sketches, new drawings are born. Cèline left a comment wondering, what new drawings could bring those sketches.  Some days later, I began to make a wire skeleton and paste papers to make a woman, based on one of those sketches. Then I left the project for months and finally I restarted it a few days ago. (Hey, Cèline, this is what gave me that sketch :).
Then I painted the woman in white, and I spent several days not knowing what could draw on her body, hearts, stars ... a very poor idea, finally I decided to make scars. Visually stunning ... but I did not know the reason why I draw scars on the body. until I knew, this has two different readings. you know I am an advocate of women. The scars mean (for men) "Enough of battered women." and (for women) "Women, enough of abusing your body with surgeries, you are beautiful".

hola Roberto!

Gracias,
De

I remember those sketches! And I love what you made now! I just really, really like it! The hair is great! You know what my first thought was? it reminds me of Tim Burton;-) Not the figure, but the scars, but in a good way! You made it very delicate in a way, the scars are not "in your face". Well done, I can't tell you enough how much I like looking at this piece!

Hi Roberto, this is again a very intriguing and powerful artwork, I think with artworks it is often like giving birth it takes a time to develope. I also like the way you photographed it, very sculptural and this figure works out in every angle.

Here are to links to my blog with pics from winter and autum at the beach - if that was what you wanted to see

wow, that was gorgeous - the way your thoughts worked their way, hidden, behind your work, revelaing themselves only after it was done. Beautiful work. And yes, it does remind me me of Tim Burton! :D But more ... pure I think is the word I'm after. Or something like it. It also reminds me of the horribly molded statues dug up in Pompeii.
Those images of wildfire look frightening; I looked up the incident online (You're up in Cordoba, right? Or do I remember wrongly?) and they have one person in custody, suspected of having started it? Seriously, those people ...
I do hope rain comes soon, and lots of it.
