TREN/TRAIN (IF)

Living without you is to sleep at the station...
is the point on the horizon where the railroad tracks join
is an eternal farewell in the darkness, not knowing who is going
is awakening covered by the pages of a newspaper with the news of my death
is a train that does not stop at my station
is a cloudy day that lasts a thousand hours
is not knowing what to do with my life
moving away as a point on the horizon
which I imagine like a train without passengers
going to nowhere.

"Living without you is to sleep at the station"
is a line from a song called "Still a Love Song" by Andrés Calamaro, (rock singer from my country) that, you know, like most rockers, not sing very well, his poetry is not very good, but sometimes they write beautiful songs that say something interesting.
this song is not a happy song.
I show here two versions (if you wish, and have time to listen). One, by  Calamaro, and another (which I like more) by the Spanish Joaquín Sabina.
I wish I could translate the lyrics, but unfortunately I can not, I will try only with the chorus
(does not really have much to do with "train" but sleep in the train station must be terrible, right?)

I'm trying to tell you
that I'm despairing of waiting,
that I do not go looking for you because I know
I run the risk of finding you;
that I'm biting night and day
the resentment nails;
that yet I owe you a love song.

Thank you for this different post, Roberto!I find it so inspiring... I like your approach to the theme - with a song and a drawing. I like the two singers, they sound differently. I prefer Joaquin Sabina's interpretation, because I can feel his soul and emotions, while the author of this beautiful song sounds somehow happy to me.;)
I like your drawing - quite a desperate one, you use the collage technique in such a lovely way!
Sleeping at a train station? Don't tell this to me, please!! The first time I went to Kenya, we spent a whole night with my companion in a small, nearly empty waiting-room in Nairobi. We couldn't sleep at all and this was a real nightmare!!:(

This is awesome! Your painting/collage is everything: Rough, subtle, in a hurry, endless, weird, touching, desperate, beautiful, scary... The train is allmost flying, it's thundering on. I like the vagueness and the movement, the speed, the handwriting and the clouds. I don't like the singers. The first too smooth, the second too raspy, but the lyrics are sooooo poetic!!! Sleeping in the station, yes, then you feel really lost.

I forgot: your header! I love it!

I wasn't precise - we spent that sleepless, absolutely dull and endless night, in an unknown country and atmosphere, at an AIRPORT waiting-room - hungry and thirsty...:((

I really really like this one! So many interesting fascinating elements and I love the rough hand! I think this would work well also as a big big canvas. (For some reason I didn't manage to listen the songs, will do that later)

Dear R, it's too bad you don't like your own painting, because we ALL do. Enjoy the compliments!

¿Casualidades?
;) ) Besotes!

So powerful and so very very sad. Your painting, Roberto, translates the mood perfectly!
