Nunca te mires en un espejo roto,
déjalo, liberarse de sus siete pájaros negros,
uno por uno hasta el amanecer,
y luego arroja el espejo dentro del fuego, y estarás salvada.
Never look at yourself in a broken mirror,
leave it get rid of its seven black birds,
one by one until dawn,
and then throws the mirror into the fire, and you will be saved.

So cool! Beautiful pattern on the wall. Why are the blackbirds coming through the mirror? Maybe she is a priestess. Love the fish, too.
An ancient myth, a broken mirror represented the soul being astray from your body. To break the spell of misfortune, you must wait seven hours black birds (one for each year of bad luck) before picking up the broken pieces, and bury them outside in the moonlight.....you have beautifully illustrated it Roberto! What does the fish symbolizes ....good fortune?
Beautiful colors, I love the egyptian style.

Your last works look all so fragile and light and bright. I really like that! This one is also a bit funny because of the egyptian style and I love the birds!
Did I already say thank you for that link about spanish ceramics? I can't remember.... so Thank You!!!!!
Una ilustración muy suave y hermosa. El patrón en el fondo es fantástico.
Y la historia que escribes - pertenece a una leyenda?!
I have heard of seven years of bad luck but didn't know there is a cure, what a relief... :-)
oh is that so?
love the colours and the mysterious fish, another great work Roberto,x
What a lovely illustration!
Beautiful and mystical! I love the poem too and thank you Joyeeta for sharing the story of the myth. I am going home on Monday and I am looking forward to my package!!
Love this one, so beautiful and poetic! The mysterious fish and the hand mudra and her knowing expression. And the birds and the wall paper - perfect composition.

Love the combination of different "styles" (wallpaper, "Egyptian" and the fish border which reminds me of ancient Greece!) Never heard about the birds before - they make the whole story sound so much ominous! BTW, I keep forgetting to thank you for the lovely cat links you sent me so: THANK YOU. :)
Roberto, dear, it was so strange and exciting to find out my "presence" in your blog! I'm glad and flattered to see that you like my small gift!:) Thank you!
What about the drawing... If you break a mirror, here we say that years of unhappy love are waiting for you - as many as the number of the broken pieces... So, it was really interesting for me to learn about the myth and your interpretation. Ages pass, but people's wish for happy love and good luck never change!
Hmmm! That fish is really mysterious...
Wow, superstition is so complicated. I have broken many mirrors in my life so maybe it's too late for me.
Do I get credit for wearing gloves while I pick up the broken glass?
Oh wait, I don't do that either :(
Wonderful illustration, dear Roberto! I see so many things in this piece. I love her position and the blackbirds flying away..and the fish!! Excellent work...wishing you a fabulous weekend too!
me encantan estos nuevos que estas haciendo! tienen como una onda asiatica, me copan! La chica me hace acordar a Isabella Rosselini en La Muerte le Sienta Bien! xx
