yo miro alrededor
no sé para qué,
y a mi mente vienen palabras como
impotencia, imposibilidad... de hacer nada
y si la tomo con mis manos
oigo una voz que me dice
"nunca debiste hacerlo".

Sometimes, when I see a feather on the ground,
comes to my mind the word vulnerability,
I look around
do not know why,
and comes to my mind words like
impotence, impossibility... to do anything
and if I take it with my hands
I hear a voice saying
"you never should have done".

Vine muchas veces y solo alguna vez te escribí.

… aunque tantas veces no te escriba…

LuTi dijo...

It sounds to melancholic... in combination with burning out candle ...
I think always the bird drops his feather on purpose. And he/she thinks: "oh weak impotent people, look at my feather, I was here, but now I am gone, with the wind flew away, in the highest tree , on the highest mountain , but YOU, you stay on the ground with my feather!! Losers! "

But I love the birds!

Malena dijo...

MiKa Art dijo...

Oh, you sound very sensitive and vulnerable!

I feel kind of happy when I see the feather on the ground. I think that an angel must have been there.

speaking of picture, i dont remember exactly but is this the same feather as you gave me a long time ago? i have to check in my folder.

We ate the birds. We ate them. We wanted their songs to flow up through our throats and burst out of our mouths, and so we ate them. We wanted their feathers to bud from our flesh. We wanted their wings, we wanted to fly as they did, soar freely among the treetops and the clouds, and so we ate them.

We’re mired in gravity, we’re earthbound. We’re ankle-deep in blood, and all because we ate the birds, we ate them a long time ago, when we still had the power to say no.

— Margaret Atwood, “Eating the Birds”

Always love this.

Besos.

PILAR dijo...

Pero, por qué?? Si ella, suave, vulnerable, silenciosa, perdida, olvidada, atrayente...apareció en tu camino, quizás deba estar contigo, quizás....Un beso.

The sight of a fallen feather always saddens me. This is the end of something - a flight, a fight, a bird's life... A sign that says: just here there had been a bird walking, hopping or flying above. The famous Bulgarian writer Yordan Radichkov -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yordan_Radichkov- writes in his brilliant book "We, the Sparrows" (from the name of a sparrow, who's just lost his sweetheart):
"If somewhere along your way, you see plumage, don't pass by. Pick it up and let it fly and it will be very grateful to you. Because a bird can be dead, but its feathers are always alive. Don't pass by our plumage, don't pass by the memory of our life, but revive it!"

Bt the way Radichkov's books are translated in Spanish, so if you are curious, you could read something. They say the genre he writes in is "magical realism". I just find it VERY, VERY difficult to translate this writer, to "catch" the tone of his speific voice. His "unique au monde" way of talking and the use of words and symbols, belonging to the Bulgarian folklore, make the task challenging and nearly impossible for the translators. Radichkov was nominated twice for the Nobel Prize for literature...
